Eat well: a diet high in fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and low in saturated fats.
A good diet, especially in combination with regular physical activity, is key to maintaining a healthy weight and reducing your risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes.

  • Eat a variety of healthy foods.

  • Get at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day — it’s not that hard! Visit 5 A Day The Color Way for information on fruit and vegetable servings.

  • Choose whole grains and low-fat dairy products.

  • Choose fish, poultry and lean meats to reduce saturated fats in your diet.

  • Eat amounts that are right for you and your level of physical activity. Drink plenty of water.

  • Eat with other people — make your meals enjoyable!

  • For other dietary and lifestyle recommendations, visit the American Heart Association.
