WA State Activities to Improve Access to Dental Care for Children with Special Needs:

• 2001 UW Conference Proceedings: Promoting Oral Health of Children with Neuro-developmental Disabilities and Other Special Health Needs

  This document contains the proceedings of an academic conference held at the Center on Human Development and Disability, University of Washington Center, on May 4-5 in Seattle. The Pacific West Consortium of Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) programs, in collaboration with the University of Washington Comprehensive Center for Oral Health Research, convened health care professionals, educators, policy makers, researchers, and parents to develop training and research agendas related to oral health promotion for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and other special health care needs.
   

• 2006 Washington State Forum on Oral Health Access for Children with Special Health Care Needs

  The purpose of this closed forum was to bring together a selected group of senior state and local oral health leaders from the dental, medical and CSHCN fields and to develop a collaborative action plan to improve oral health access for CSHCN in Washington State. The forum was held on September 27, 2006, 9:00 a.m. in Federal Way, Washington. 
   

• 2008 Washington State Regional Forums on Oral Health Access for Special Populations (in progress)

These forums were held in Sea-Tac (Aug 1) and Moses Lake (Aug 15). Forums were open to state and local oral health stakeholders to discuss innovative strategies to improve access to oral health for special populations.
