About Us
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
Education (SNAP-Ed) is a nutrition education program
for people who receive, or are eligible to receive, food stamp
benefits.
Contracting agencies (PDF, 167KB) must show that at least half of the people receiving nutrition education have a household income at or below 185% of the federal poverty level. The Program helps people improve their nutritional health. Each agency must have a project that supports people to eat more fruit and vegetables.The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans are used as the standard. Funding for SNAP-Ed comes from the USDA and operates through a joint agreement between Washington State Department of Social and Health Services and Washington State Department of Health. For more information :
