Steps to a Healthier WA is a new, integrated approach to chronic disease prevention. This new approach helps Washington State work together to enhance efforts to reduce chronic diseases in all parts of our state—communities, schools, worksites and healthcare settings.

Steps to a Healthier WA helps communities and organizations create policies that make the healthy choice the easy choice.

bullet Policy and environmental changes that support healthy communities, healthy organizations, and healthy choices are a cornerstone of the Steps to a Healthier WA approach.
NPA Policy Resource Guide

Steps to a Healthier WA creates healthy communities, schools, worksites, and healthcare settings.

bullet Steps to a Healthier WA makes it easier for people to make healthier choices wherever they are—at home or recreating in our communities, at school, at work or when visiting their healthcare provider

Steps Communities in Washington State

Four Washington communities are piloting the Steps to a Healthier WA approach to chronic disease prevention:

Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan Counties
Clark County
  Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation
Thurston County

Success stories and lessons learned will inform chronic disease prevention efforts throughout the nation.
