How often should I see my doctor?


Why get regular checkups, immunizations and screening tests?

  • Prevent medical problems.
  • Early diagnosis and treatment of conditions.
  • Immunizations prevent infectious diseases.
  • Find about risks that might increase your chances of developing certain conditions.
  • Help you identify health problems.
  • Get information about health and healthy living.

Tips

  • Get a primary care provider - a doctor, nurse-practitioner or physicians’ assistant.
  • Go in every two years for a check-up.
  • Share your family history with your medical provider.
  • Speak up and voice your concerns with your medical providers.
  • Schedule screenings such as pap smears, sexually transmitted infection tests, mammograms and blood work as recommended by your provider.
