Worker Certification for Drug Lab Cleanup

The following steps must be completed to become a certified clandestine drug lab decontamination worker. Worker certification can last for up to 2 years. To determine the exact application fee, see the Worker Certification Application Form below. 

Reciprocal certification is provided only to individuals who have successfully completed the Oregon State sponsored Basic Decontamination Worker Course and submitted the completed Washington State Department of Health's Clandestine Drug Lab Decontamination Worker Application within 60 days of completing Oregon's Worker Course.

Step 1

Read the Worker Certification Application Form (PDF 580KB) to make sure you understand the requirements for worker certification.

Step 2

Complete the forty-hour Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER) training. HAZWOPER classes are offered through private companies and community colleges. Search the Internet for HAZWOPER training in your area.

Your HAZWOPER certification must be current in order to attend the 2-day clandestine drug lab worker certification course.
