Water System Acquisition and Rehabilitation ProgramThe Governor and Legislature approved $3.75 million for the Water System Acquisition and Rehabilitation Program (WSARP) in 2007. One million was appropriated for the City of Republic to acquire the Pine Grove water system. Applications for the remaining $2.75 million were submitted to the Department of Health in the fall of 2007. The Department of Health and the Public Works Board reviewed, scored, and ranked the WSARP applications. The Public Works Board approved the final 2008 WSARP Funding List (Excel 27KB) on February 5, 2008. Grants ranging up to $687,500 may be used to pay for a portion of planning, design, and other pre-construction activities; system acquisition; and capital construction costs. Applicants with sound drinking water utility management that own at least one municipal Group A public water system may be eligible for funding. The Water System Acquisition and Rehabilitation Program (WSARP) is jointly administered by the state Department of Health, the Public Works Board, and the Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development. For more information on WSARPWSARP guidelines, containing detailed eligibility requirements, and applications are available on the Public Works Board Web Site. Once there scroll down to the Water System Acquisition and Rehabilitation Program Section.
