Mercury in Schools
School Assessment

To assist teachers, administrators and other school personnel in locating mercury in schools and assessing how much, and how widespread mercury is in their facilities, multiple groups and agencies have developed tools to conduct mercury assessments in schools.

Below you will find a checklist the Washington State Department of Health has adapted from the University of Wisconsin.  The checklist is divided by room type and includes columns to store information on where and how much of each mercury-containing product is found in the school.  When the chart is complete, visit the Recycling and Disposal page for information on how to properly dispose your mercury and mercury-containing items.
