Rule RevisionAmending Chapter 246-254 WACSimplifying X-Ray FeesThe Office of Radiation Protection’s X-Ray Program is participating in the Governor’s Enterprise Business Portal initiative to improve and simplify the licensing and registration service to Washington citizens and businesses. To do this we have partnered with the Department of Licensing and its Master License Service (MLS). The MLS provides a one-stop process for obtaining licenses, registrations, and permits. This allows businesses to apply for and obtain multiple licenses at one time. It also allows the customer to pay for licenses and registrations online, and allows customers to pay with credit cards or electronic funds transfers. This service is not available under the current fee structure and rule. Fees for registering X-ray facilities and the acceptable methods of payment are set in rule (Chapter 246-254 WAC). We have amended our rule to simplify the fee structure and changed the instructions on how to pay the X-ray registration fees. The previous X-ray registration fees were determined by a base fee, plus a first tube fee, plus an additional tube fee. Fees varied by use or category of X-ray tube type. The fee structure was simplified by:
We also kept any changes to the fees revenue neutral. This resulted in little or no difference in the amount of fees a facility pays in comparison to their previous fees. Please contact our office at 1-800-299-9729 if you have any questions. |
