Using Shallow Water Lifeguards or Attendants

at Private Swimming Club Facilities in Washington State

• Guidance document describes when private swimming club facilities may use shallow water lifeguards and attendants.  Provisions in the Water Recreation Facilities regulation (Chapter 246-260 WAC) allow private clubs to provide shallow water lifeguards and attendants to supervise children 16 years old and younger under certain circumstances.
