HAI Program Vision & Mission

Our Vision

We will play an important role in building a future where all people can:
  • Have access to accurate, up to date information about infections and what everyone can do to end preventable infection risks in healthcare facilities;

  • Feel empowered and confident about approaching any of their healthcare providers when they are concerned about infection risks;

  • Have reason to believe any hospital in the state provides care excellent enough to satisfy concerns about infection risk;

  • Have reason to feel safe about being in a hospital.

Our Mission

Established by the Legislature to serve the people of Washington, the Healthcare Associated Infections Program brings together and meaningfully informs the broadest possible coalition to advance the implementation, practices, and science of healthcare epidemiology, which empowers infection prevention to protect the public’s health.
