About the Center for Health Statistics
The Center for Health Statistics collects and
publishes critical information that is needed to help Washingtonians live
healthier lives. CHS provides access to current, high quality health data
that covers deaths, births, pregnancy rates, abortion rates, and
behavioral risk factors. These data are also used by
policy makers, health professionals, community-based organizations, and
researchers to understand trends, identify high risk populations (and
geographic areas), set prevention priorities, and plan targeted health
promotion strategies. These data enable people to make better informed
decisions about healthcare and health plans.
Data are distributed as raw data sets, statistical
tabulations, web pages and through printed reports, including Washington
State Vital Statistics, Washington State Pregnancy and Induced
Abortion Statistics and Washington State Charity Care in Washington
Hospitals.
