infection that develops during, or soon
after, being in a healthcare setting. This
includes hospitals, clinics, doctor’s
offices, nursing homes, or home-care visits
by a health professional. These infections
are widely recognized as a serious problem.
Many are preventable.
This website provides information on the
risks and best prevention practices to look
for in a healthcare setting for several
types of infections. You can also see
infection rates for the following infections
in hospitals throughout Washington:

acute-care hospitals licensed by the
Washington State Department of Health.
