Benton-Franklin Health District

The Benton-Franklin Health District is offering H1N1 vaccinations to the general public beginning Tuesday, December 15, 2009. The CDC high risk groups previously identified remain a priority because of their increased possibility of serious illness and complications, but anyone wishing to receive a vaccination may now call and schedule an appointment to receive H1N1 vaccine.

Appointments can be made by calling (509) 460-4510. Appointments will be scheduled at the BFHD Kennewick Office, 7102 West Okanogan Place.

Vaccine is also available to the general public through healthcare providers, community health clinics, and pharmacies.

We appreciate your desire to protect yourself and your family from this new virus with a vaccination. We do urge you to continue with personal precautions as well. Remember to wash your hands, cover your cough, and stay home when you are sick.

If you or your family members catch the flu, you will likely feel sick for up to a week. It is important to keep the sick person hydrated by drinking lots of fluids and help keep the fever down with non-aspirin fever-reducing medication. Stay home until 24-hours after the fever is gone (without the use of medication), and call your healthcare provider if symptoms get worse.
