Injury and Violence Prevention through EMS and Trauma Regions
Trauma prevention is the first component of the Washington Emergency Medical Services and Trauma System (RCW 70.168.010 (3) (4)).
Washington State is divided into eight EMS and Trauma Regions. Each region has an injury prevention coordinator or contact.
The coordinator works with programs and local partners that help to reduce risks for injury.
These include Safe Kids Coalitions, county-based Traffic Safety Task Forces, hospital or clinic-based designated trauma services; law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies; Area Agencies on Aging, parks and recreation; and many others.
