Injury and Violence Prevention Program Just In Injury Prevention through the EMS and Trauma Care System Program Contacts - Technical Assistance |
In
2005, the Injury and Violence Prevention Program at DOH received
a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC). The goal of the grant is to develop and implement an
injury and violence prevention programs.Washington State produced, the Washington State Injury and Violence Prevention Guide, for those working on prevention programs. The guide has 12 chapters with four priority areas. It is a product of three years of work by the Injury Community Planning Group (ICPG), the Department of Health, and the Department of Labor and Industries. This guide has injury data, goals, evidence-based strategies, and promising or experimental strategies for each injury area. The guide will be updated each year. Using this guide for injury and violence prevention programs will make Washington a safer place. By working with community coalitions, public health educators, physicians, nurses, and others, we hope to reduce the burden of injury and violence.
