The Department of Health and the Workforce
Training and Education Coordinating Board are surveying licensed health
care providers.
Links to the data sets are at right.
The Legislature directed us to survey
licensed health care providers
every two years. This followed a recommendation of the Health
Care Personnel Shortage Task Force. An earlier report from the Joint Select Committee on
Health Disparities said our health care workforce should reflect the
diversity of the state.
The voluntary survey collects data on such areas as ethnicity, specialty and
education. Educators and advocates need data on health care
professionals to improve access to health care services.
We surveyed
dental hygienists, registered nurses, and licensed practical nurses in
2007. This was one-half of health care licensees. In 2008, we will
survey other professions. See the list at
right. We will present a
report to the Legislature in 2009.
Study methods:
100% in each profession received a letter offering web access to the
questionnaire, and 33% received a paper copy of the questionnaire and
one follow-up mailing.
Note: All data posted on this
site maintains the confidentiality of the individuals who responded to
the survey. |
