Adult family home providers, resident managers and applicants are no longer required to register with the Department of Health.

“Effective March 28, 2002, Enrolled House Bill 2444, Regulation of Adult Family Home Providers and Resident Managers, became law.”  Upon signature, the law repealed the requirements for the Department of Health (DOH) to credential adult family home providers and resident managers.

Effective March 28, 2002, we have stopped all activities relating to this registration including the processing of applications, renewals and complaints.

Applicants

Individual registration of Adult Family Home providers and resident managers is no longer required by DOH. Any application received by DOH after March 28, 2002 will be returned to the applicant. For answers to questions regarding the licensing of adult family homes, individuals may contact the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) .

Registered Providers

Resident managers and providers no longer need to pay a renewal fee to DOH.  Also, they will be receiving a pro-rated refund for their registration(s) within the next three to four months.

Adult Family Home Advisory Committee – last meeting

The last Adult Family Home Advisory Committee meeting was held on May 2, 2002, 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Department of Social and Health Services, 640 Woodland Square Loop Southeast, Lacey, Washington in rooms 1-7.1 and 1-7.2.  The purpose of the meeting was to update the Committee on the Implementation Plan for the transfer of the Committee to DSHS and the closure of the program within DOH.

Also effective June 13, 2002, the law transfers the Adult Family Home Advisory Committee solely to the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS).  Vicki Brown, DOH program manager, will be working with Robert Stroh, DSHS program manager, to facilitate the smooth transition of the Committee.
