Roles and Responsibilities

The Sustainability Committee is a cross-divisional group that began meeting in October 2003 to implement the Sustainability Program throughout the Department of Health (Goal 9 of the Department of Health’s Sustainability Plan). The Sustainability Plan was adopted in September 2003. The Sustainability Committee will act as a workgroup, steering committee, and provide implementation support throughout the Department of Health. Responsibilities include:

· Coordinating DOH Sustainability Plan implementation and support to agency executive managers.

· Ensuring that DOH’s Sustainability actions address Secretary Selecky’s Performance agreement with the Governor.

· Completing and submitting subsequent plans in each even numbered year beginning September 2004.

· Completing an annual report of progress on implementation of the Sustainability Plan to OFM beginning October 15, 2004.

· Developing improved strategies for communication and education of agency employees.

· Identifying and defining sustainability issues.

· Adding or improving new ideas to agency policies and procedures.

Membership

The Sustainability Committee membership will include representation from each division of the Department of Health. The representative for each division will be decided upon by the division senior management.

Meeting Frequency

The Sustainability Committee meets on a quarterly basis and additionally as needed.

Organizational Support

Support staff prepares meeting minutes, schedules meetings, and follows up on action items and deadlines.
