FEMALE NARRATOR: Tsunamis. Monkey Pox, Bird Flu. There is so much
going on in the world, it is hard to know what to listen to – if
it’s important or even real.
SECRETARY OF HEALTH MARY SELECKY: “I’m Washington State Secretary of
Health Mary Selecky. There’s been a lot of talk about Avian flu
lately. It’s important to know this is mainly a bird disease. Yet
many experts think the virus could change in a way that puts people
at risk – perhaps leading to a flu pandemic.
“Take steps now to be prepared.”
MALE NARRATOR:
1. “Practice good health habits. Wash your hands, cough and sneeze
into your sleeve and stay home when you’re sick.
2. Stock up on supplies. Have enough for a week or more.
3. Have an emergency plan. What will you do if schools close? What
if you couldn’t access nearby stores or go to work?
Visit www.doh.wa.gov for information to help you prepare.”
FEMALE NARRATOR (from open): “I’m ready, are you?”
