Local health agencies play key roles in all phases of pandemic
influenza planning, response and recovery – disease tracking and
monitoring; hospital and health care provider coordination; stopping
the spread of disease; and educating the public.

Federal/International Partners
The World Health Organization tracks and monitors disease around the
globe in collaboration with many national health organizations. The
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention provide information, guidance and
support to state and local public health officials. Washington
officials collaborate with Canadian counterparts to help ensure a
coordinated response to a pandemic.
