WAHVE

WAshington Health Volunteers in Emergencies

The Department of Health is in the process of developing a new system (WAHVE) that will allow interested health professionals—initially doctors, nurses and mental health professionals—to register in advance as potential volunteers in the event of a naturally occurring or human engineered disaster. Eventually, the system will be open to other health professionals as well as retired medical personnel.

The system is part of a nationwide initiative to have each state develop an on-line registration system for health care professionals who are willing to volunteer their services during an emergency. The primary purpose is to support healthcare personnel surge capacity needs.

WAHVE should be available in fall 2007. We will provide a link to the registration system when WAHVE is ready for you to use.
