Shamim Bachelani: Affecting the health of thousands every day! It takes network of people and programs around our state to make Washington safe and healthy. While some of those efforts are easy to spot, like restaurant inspections and immunization programs, a lot of other very important work happens that most people don’t know about. That’s certainly the case when it comes to managing the licenses and credentials of all health care providers in the state. It’s important work that often goes unseen. Even so, this public health work can be very gratifying — it affects the choices people make about their health care. Imagine the gratification Shamim Bachelani gets after providing service that affects more than 6,000 people every day!
Bachelani trains and assists her staff to issue credentials to more than 200 nursing assistants, midwives, surgical technologists and nursing pools per day. The majority of credentials Bachelani and her staff issue are to nursing assistants, who provide personal care services to patients. They are employed in nursing homes, boarding homes, adult family homes, assisted living facilities and hospitals. Information about nursing assistants and all other health care providers can be found on the Department of Health’s Provider Credential Search Web. Through work of Bachelani and her staff, more than 6,000 elderly Washington residents will receive the quality care they need. Bachelani’s team assures that people in our state have access to qualified, properly credentialed professionals when they need health care. “I am grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of public health,” said Bachelani. “I enjoy helping people and serving the people in Washington.” |
