Glenda Moore: The voice of public health
As a 30-year veteran of state employment, Glenda Moore knows her way around government. From medical marijuana and tattoos to filing a complaint against a health care provider, if you’ve got questions, Glenda can get answers! With between 40 and 50 calls a day, she stays busy helping people navigate the maze of government. To the general public, the term ‘public health’ means almost anything and everything. While there are the routine calls about provider credentialing or local health departments, but what about the rules and regulations on – shrunken heads? Glenda finds herself reaching beyond the boundaries of public health and playing the part of the friendly tour guide of government. There are a variety of agencies that fall into the ‘health’ category – from Department of Social and Health Services to Health Care Authority to the Office of Insurance Commissioner. Glenda helps people find public health resources and helps with suggestions for more individual situations beyond the world of public health. With more than 12 years in this role of providing customer service, she has established an extensive list of resources. Generally, within an arms reach or a couple of strokes on the keyboard, she can connect callers with the information they need. “This really is my dream job; I love helping people and enjoy the research,” Glenda says. “It’s always an adventure to answer my phone!” If you have general public health concerns or questions, call the consumer assistance hotline at 1‑800‑525‑0127. |
