OLYMPIA ¾ The Washington State Department of Health and the Nursing Commission immediately suspended the license of Kent licensed practical nurse Charlotte Kemble (LP00031997) on allegations of substandard care and substance abuse. This action, called a “summary suspension,” means Kemble cannot practice or be employed as a licensed practical nurse pending the outcome of a hearing.
According to the statement of charges, Kemble failed to administer and/or document the administration of patients’ medications. On numerous occasions, she has shown behaviors that suggest substance abuse, including being contacted by police after demonstrating signs of alcohol abuse in public places. Kemble appeared at her workplace intoxicated and threatened to kill her employer. She has not complied with an agreement she made with the commission in August 2004 that she would participate in a monitored treatment program.
Kemble has 20 days to respond to the charges and must respond in 10 days to request a prompt hearing. The statement of charges and summary suspension order are available on Provider Credential Search (https://fortress.wa.gov/doh/providercredentialsearch/) or by calling 360-236-4700.

health, safety and welfare in Washington by regulating the competency and
quality of nurses. The program establishes, monitors and enforces qualifications
for licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency
mechanisms and discipline.
