Boil water advisory lifted for City of Sprague
OLYMPIA ¾
Water customers in the City of Sprague no longer have to boil their drinking water. City officials are notifying customers that the water is okay to drink. Two sets of water samples taken over the past two days show the absence of bacteria, signaling the water is again safe to use.
The Washington State Department of Health worked closely with Sprague officials to flush the system and return it to normal operation. “The City of Sprague is concerned about the health of its citizens and we are pleased the problem has been resolved,” said Kon Lamparter, Certified Operator for the City of Sprague.
The specific cause of the problem remains undetermined, even after a thorough inspection of the water system. Chlorinating and flushing the system was sufficient to eliminate the bacteria.
Customers who have not used fixtures, water fountains, ice machines, soda machines, and/or other equipment over the past several days should run the water for several minutes before putting it back into service.
The City of Sprague encourages customers with questions to call Lamparter at 509-257-2662.
