Restrictions continue for Walla Walla County optometrist
OLYMPIA ¾ The state Department of Health and the Board of Optometry will leave restrictions on the license of a southeast Washington optometrist indefinitely.
Kelly J. Cochrane (OD00001536) cannot treat female patients or minor patients. He also cannot employ female assistants other than his wife.
Cochrane crossed professional boundaries by hugging, kissing, or making inappropriate comments to one patient and three employees. Two of the employees were also patients.
The final order is online; click the link to "Provider Credential Search" on the Department of Health home page (www.doh.wa.gov) or call 360-236-4700. Anyone who believes a health care provider acted unprofessionally is encouraged to call that number to report their complaint.
The Board of Optometry regulates optometrists in Washington. The program establishes, monitors, and enforces qualifications for licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency mechanisms, and discipline. Rules, policies, and procedures promote the delivery of quality health care to state residents.
