Welcome to Public Health! A Guidebook for Local Board of Health Members is a collaborative effort of the Washington State Board of Health and the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice of the University of Washington School of Public Health and Community Medicine.

This publication serves as a guidebook for existing or new local board of health members who are responsible for the protection of the public’s health in their communities and who have the opportunity to provide vision, leadership, and policy to make their communities a safer and healthier place to live.
