Ruby T., 90, of East Wenatchee received the ceremonial 1 millionth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine given in the state.

The Washington State Department of Health is proud to announce that today, Ruby T., 90, of East Wenatchee received the ceremonial 1 millionth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine given in the state. Ruby received the Pfizer vaccine at the state's mass vaccination site in Wenatchee.
Ruby was escorted to her seat by a member of the Washington National Guard, who stayed by her side when she got her shot. When asked how she felt after receiving the vaccine, she said it was "just normal. Didn't hurt at all."
To honor the occasion, staff onsite held a small, socially distanced ceremony for Ruby inside the center that houses the vaccination clinic. They posed in front of a banner that said “1 Million Doses,” and smiled for pictures with their masks on.
To mark this important milestone, Ruby received a certificate from Governor Jay Inslee. She will also receive a lifetime pass to Washington State Ferries.
As an honored Chelan-Douglas county resident, representing the “1 Million Dose” celebration, Ruby is invited to ride in the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival Grand parade held the first weekend in May in Wenatchee, Washington.
Ruby also received Wenatchee Wild VIP hockey tickets to the first hockey game and a jersey. Wenatchee Wild is a junior level hockey team and tenant at the Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee.
Ruby and her family have lived in North Central Washington since the early 1960s, and she has lived in East Wenatchee for the last couple of years. Ruby was driven to the site by her daughter, who received her first dose of the Pfizer vaccine last week at the same site.
Ruby will return to the state's vaccination site at Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee 21 days from her first dose to receive her second dose.
Ruby's advice to all other Washingtonians is "Get your vaccine! Get it and let's get rid of this thing!"
