In Washington state, there are no changes to the childhood or adult immunization schedule, insurance coverage, or school immunization requirements. This is because the underlying science has not changed.
Current immunization guidance continues to be based on recommendations from trusted professional organizations endorsed by both the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) and the West Coast Health Alliance (WCHA).
- Children (18 years or younger): American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
- Pregnant persons: American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)
- Adults (19 years or older): American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)
All vaccines recommended by the AAP remain available at no cost for children under age 19 through Washington’s universal Childhood Vaccine Program (CVP) at participating provider sites. Uninsured adults age 19 and older can receive recommended vaccines at no cost through Washington’s Adult Vaccine Program (AVP).
Families should not experience any changes in vaccine access or coverage due to recent federal policy developments. Vaccines remain accessible through both the Childhood Vaccine Program (CVP) and Adult Vaccine Program (AVP).
The DOH will continue to monitor the evolving immunization landscape and any developments that may impact immunization programs. We are committed to providing timely communication to the public, providers and partners, and to maintaining science-based vaccine policy that ensures equitable access for all Washington residents.

COVID-19 Vaccination Standing Order
The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has issued a statewide standing order authorizing qualified health care personnel to vaccinate individuals aged 6 months and older, including pregnant people, against COVID-19 if they do not have contraindications to the vaccine. This will increase access to COVID-19 vaccination for Washington state residents. Learn more about COVID-19 vaccines.
The standing order follows the West Coast Health Alliance vaccine recommendations for COVID-19, flu, and RSV. The standing order does not follow the CDC Immunization Schedule published August 7, 2025.
