DTaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, acellular Pertussis) Vaccine
DTaP is one of four vaccines used to prevent diphtheria, tetanus,
and pertussis. DTaP is given to children younger than age 7 years.
Children under 7 who cannot tolerate the pertussis component in DTaP can get
vaccinated with DT because it does not contain pertussis and is
used as a substitute for DTaP for children who cannot tolerate the pertussis
vaccine. Children should get 5 doses of DTaP, one dose at each of the following
ages:
- 2 months.
- 4 months.
- 6 months.
- 15-18 months.
- 4-6 years.
Washington State is currently supplying:
- Sanofi Pasteur DTaP vaccine, brand name, Daptacel. The vaccine
has typical availability.
- Sanofi Pasteur DT vaccine, brand name, DT. The vaccine has typical
availability.
- GlaxoSmithKline DTaP/HepB/IPV vaccine, brand name, Pediarix. The
vaccine has typical availability.

- There is no separate vaccine information statement for
combination vaccines. For patients receiving Pediarix, please
give the vaccine information statements for
DTaP,

IPV.
