There is never an excuse for child abuse, but some contributing factors emotional stress, economic stress, unrealistic expectations of ourselves and our children are widespread. The terrible fact is, child abuse and child neglect can happen in any community. The CAH Child Abuse Prevention program contributes public-health policy, and evaluation-and-assessment resources that are vital to abuse prevention. Additionally, our role is to provide the technical assistance, funding, and project coordination that help make the most of these groups' important resources. The CAH Child Abuse Prevention program works in partnership with the Washington Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, local health jurisdictions, Family Policy Council, Family Support Washington, University of Washington School of Nursing and School of Social Work, to stop child abuse before it happens.
