About PRAMS
PRAMS is a joint research project between the Washington State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  PRAMS is an ongoing mail/telephone survey of women who have recently given birth.  New mothers help by answering questions about their behaviors and experiences before, during, and shortly after pregnancy.  This helps us learn more about why some babies are born healthy and others not.

Why is PRAMS Important?

The PRAMS survey provides data that is not available from other sources about pregnancy and the first few months after birth.   This information can be used to identify groups of women and infants at high risk for health problems, to monitor changes in health status, and to measure progress towards goals in improving the health of mothers and infants.
