The mission of the Office of Shellfish and Water Protection (OSWP) is to improve the health of people in Washington State by ensuring shellfish are safe to eat, beaches are safe for swimming, and on-site sewage and reclaimed water systems are properly managed.

  • Shellfish - Used to update the shellfish industry and partner agencies and organizations on issues regarding commercial shellfish harvest management.

  • Wastewater - Used to notify interested parties about general wastewater issues including updates to Recommended Standards & Guidance and proprietary product lists, announcing Technical Advisory Committee meeting dates, wastewater newsletter publications, and other general state wastewater related topics.

  • Wastewater-Greywater - Used to update stakeholders and interested parties on greywater reuse rule development activities. When complete, the new rule will outline requirements for the reuse of greywater outside of buildings for subsurface dispersal and irrigation.

  • Wastewater-LOSS - Used to update stakeholders and interested parties on Large On-site Sewage system rulemaking activities.

  • Wastewater-Tanks - Used to provide updates to people interested in the sewage tank rule implementation and other sewage tank issues.
